“Why does my laptop BATTERY drain so fast?”

·         Too many tasks running in the background. Open Task Manager (ctrl + shift + esc), and terminate any processes that you deem unnecessary. Do not terminate Windows processes. You may want to uninstall some applications to save on BATTERY life.

·         High performance mode is on. Click the BATTERY icon in the task bar. Click “BATTERY settings” or “power options”. A Control Panel window should pop up. Navigate to “power plans”. Select “Normal” or “BATTERY saver”.

·         Too many connected peripherals. Unplugging USB drives, keyboards, wireless mice and other junk can boost BATTERY life significantly.

·         Outdated hardware. You may want to replace the BATTERY if the system is at least three to four years old on moderate use, and after six years, consider getting a new system.
